Autotune recently attended the Goodwood 73rd Members Meeting, taking down four cars.
Three cars were being campaigned in the Bruce McLare Trophy for pre 66 Sports Racing Cars. Canadian Jay Esterer was over to campaign his Chinook Mk2 again, whilst Andrew Wareing drove Ray Boissoneau’s similar Chinook Mk2. Autotune MD Anthony Taylor was back driving his recently restored McLaren M1B.
Jay qualified in fifth after stopping early feeling the track was too oily to risk the car, Andrew placed 18th and Anthony was 25th. At flag fall Jay shot away and by St Marys had taken the lead with a great move around the outside of the leaders at Madgwick and Fordwater, by the end of lap one he had a lead of several car lengths. Sadly a faulty spark plug meant the engine gradually lost power and by the fifth lap having dropped to second Jay pulled in to save damaging the engine.
Andrew drove a great race in an unfamiliar car to 15th whilst Anthony made progress up to 19th by the chequered flag.
Autotune also took along their freshly restored Maki F101 for display in the High Airbox F1 demonstration, sadly the car was only on static display with a dummy engine but the car drew lots of curious admirers throughout the weekend.
